Witch, Witchcraft.
The word kashaph is 'to use magical formulas or incantations,' 'to practise sorcery.' A witch was not suffered to live. Exodus 22:18; Deuteronomy 18:10; 2 Kings 1:9; 2 Chronicles 1:33; Micah 5:12; Nahum 3:4. In 1 Samuel 15:23 the word is qesem, divination. In Galatians 5:20 it is farmakeia, sorcery. See DIVINATION.
