Pastors (shepherds). This word occurs but once in the New Testament. Ephesians 4:11. In all other places where the Greek word occurs it is translated shepherd, and shepherds. It is often applied to Christ as the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls. John 10:11, 1 Peter 2:25. It refers to the elders of the church, who are to "feed (shepherd) the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof." 1 Peter 1:5-2, Acts 20:28.
