Anesis; or, Abating Addition of Conclusion by way of lessening the Effect

An´-e-sis (ἄνεσις), a loosening, relaxing, abating . This is the opposite of Epitasis; the addition of a concluding sentence which diminishes the effect of what has been said.

2 Kings 5:1. -“Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man of valour, but he was a leper” : and therefore all his grandeur and importance counted for nothing.
