Bowl The sockets of the lamps of the golden candlestick of the tabernacle are called bowls (Exodus 25:31, Exodus 1:25, Exodus 1:25; Exodus 1:37, Exodus 1:37, Exodus 1:37); the same word so rendered being elsewhere rendered "cup" (Genesis 44:2, Genesis 1:44, Genesis 1:44), and wine "pot" (Jeremiah 35:5). The reservoir for oil, from which pipes led to each lamp in Zechariah's vision of the candlestick, is called also by this name (Zechariah 4:2, Zechariah 1:4); so also are the vessels used for libations (Exodus 25:29; Exodus 1:37).
