EMMANUEL
A compound Hebrew word or name, signifying God with us. It is applied to the Messiah, our Savior, who, as having united the divine with the human nature, and having come to dwell with men, is God with us, Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 1:8; Matthew 1:23.
