Bardesanists A sect so denominated from their leader Bardesanes, a Syrian, of Edessa, in Mesopotamia, who lived in the second century. They believed that the actions of men depended altogether on fate, and that God himself is subject to necessity.
They denied the resurrection of the body, and the incarnation and death of our Saviour.
