Mowing In Scripture means "reaping with a sickle", for the heat dries up the grass before it is high enough for the scythe (Psalms 129:7). In Amos 7:1 "the king's mowings" were the firstfruits of the pastures, tyrannically exacted. "The latter growth" was "the after grass" in the time of the latter rain.
