Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.

Achish appela David, et lui dit: Sûrement, comme le Seigneur vit - (cf. 1 Samuel 29:9 , "comme un ange de Dieu.") Ces expressions ont-elles été utilisées par Akish ou doivent-elles être considérées comme des traductions du dialecte philistin? Ces questions sont plus faciles à poser qu’à répondre. Il a été suggéré qu'Achish pourrait, en parlant à David, utiliser le premier, tout comme beaucoup d'Anglais ont, à l'imitation des Français, entremêlé sa conversation avec l'interjection de «mon Dieu».
