Proverbs 1:12

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit - so as to leave no clew to our being discovered, and no trace to turn suspicion upon us. They unwittingly use language awfully significant of their own retributive doom, like that of Korah and his company (; ). "Swallow" expresses their insatiable greediness, like that of the grave (Proverbs 30:15).
