The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

The light of the righteous rejoiceth - joyfully shines forth. "The light of the righteous" is that of their piety, joy, peace, and blessedness, which, beginning here, is perfected in the life to come (; ; ; ). It is like the sun, ever brightening from morning to mid-day.

But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. The little and faint spark of prosperity which the wicked have now, shall be put out, as a "lamp" which soon goes out; whereas the righteous shine like the sunlight, permanently and universally (; ).
