Proverbs 20:12

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them - therefore He surely sees and hears all things (). "The hearing ear is the ear which reverently and eagerly heareth the Word of God, of parents, and of preceptors (; ): the opposite to the stopped ear (); the heavy ear (). "The seeing eye" is the eye which eagerly and intelligently looks into the works and Word of God (; ). We should consider the design for which God has given us these two leading organs of sense, and also remember that it is of God's grace alone that we can use them aright.
