My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion. On these last words cf. ; , notes. Solomon repeats similar monitions so frequently (cf. Proverbs 1:8; ; ) on account of men's spiritual apathy, in order to impress them the more firmly with the greatness, certainty, and importance of these truths. Keep them before thine eyes as a perpetual object of delight and source of instruction.
