For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee, taking the part of those that are His own; though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, the overthrow of the world empire being a type of the overthrow of all enemies of Jehovah and His Church, yet will I not make a full end of thee, the deliverance of His people being always assured in the Gospel-message; but I will correct thee in measure, literally, "with judgment," in such moderation as will bring about a change of heart for the better in them, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished, for a chastisement of His children such as He exercises is intended to keep them in His ways, for the Lord's thoughts toward them are thoughts of love and of peace. Thus is the culmination of the Messianic period portrayed.
