ἡγιασμένοι ἐσμέν. “We have been sanctified.” As we have already seen, the word ἁγιασμὸς is not used of progressive sanctification, but of consecration in a pure state to God’s service (Hebrews 2:11; Hebrews 13:12, &c., and comp. John 17:19; 1 Thessalonians 4:3, “This is the will of God, even your sanctification”).

τοῦ σώματος. The “body” is a reference to Hebrews 10:5. And because Christ thus offered His body we are bidden to offer our bodies as “a living sacrifice, holy, well-pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1).
