ἕτεροι δύο. Perhaps followers of the released Barabbas. They were not ‘thieves,’ but ‘robbers’ or ‘brigands,’ and this name was not undeservedly given to some of the wild bands which refused Roman authority. See Isaiah 53:9.

κακοῦργοι. This is in apposition to ἕτεροι δύο, not in agreement—two others, malefactors. The same English word is used in John 18:30, for κακοποιός.
