προβιβασθεῖσα. ‘Impelled,’ ‘instigated;’ cp. Xen. Mem. 1. 5. 1, ἐπισκεψώμεθα εἴ τι προυβίβαζε λέγων εἰς αὐτὴν τοιάδε.

πίναξ = ‘a flat wooden trencher’ on which meat was served, δαιτρὸς δὲ κρειών πίνακας παρέθηκεν�, Hom. Od. I. 141. This appears to have been the meaning of the old English word ‘charger’ (A.V.), which is connected with cargo and with French charger, and signified originally that on which a load is placed, hence a dish.
