stop me This boasting shall not be stopped in me, margin. The Greek word signifies to wallor fenceround. Bp Wordsworth thinks that an allusion is here made to the Isthmian Wall, and refers to several passages in ancient history which speak of the value of such a fortification in the defence of the Peloponnesus. But it is possible that no such allusion was intended. The word is used in the N. T. (as in Romans 3:19; Hebrews 11:33) of stopping the mouth.
