it is hid to them that are lost Literally, is hidden among the perishing. Our Gospel ishid, too, in some cases, I grant. But it is hid only to perishing souls, who will not lay hold on the only hope of deliverance. Cf. John 3:18; Acts 4:12. This is not the language of logic, but of deep and strong conviction.
