men Heb. ha-adam, i.e. "the man." It is not the proper name "Adam"; nor is it "the man" as an individual as in Genesis 3:24; Genesis 4:1: but "the man" collectively, in the sense of "the human race," LXX οἱ ἄνθρωποι. This use of the word is different from anything in the Paradise Narrative: see Genesis 5:1.
