righteousness i.e., practically, Justification, which is the admission to Salvation.

have attained Lit. and better, did attain; at their conversion; on hearing and receiving the Gospel, previously unsought and unimagined.

even Lit. but; and so perhaps better: q. d., "but this righteousness was that which results from faith;" in contrastto the Jewish unbeliever's ideal, given in Romans 10:3. The E. V., however, is equally true to the Greek idiom.
