2 CHRONICLES—NOTE ON 2 Chronicles 6:32 Solomon’s petition turns from Israelites to the foreigner who has heard of the Lord’s great name, mighty hand, and outstretched arm (Deuteronomy 4:34; Deuteronomy 5:15) and prays toward the temple. Solomon desires that the prayers of this person, too, would be answered, and that all the peoples of the earth should know God’s name and fear him (compare Isaiah 2:1; Isaiah 56:6; Luke 7:1). “Your mighty hand and your outstretched arm” recalls God’s deliverance of Israel in the exodus (Exodus 3:19).
