μετάπεμψαι : middle, his messengers were to perform his wishes; only in Acts in N.T., where it occurs nine times, but found twice in LXX and in Maccabees; so too mostly in the middle in classical writers, although the active is also found in same sense. Σίμωνά (τινα), see critical notes; as unknown to Cornelius, marked out by his surname as the one of the many who were called Simon.
