παῤῥησιασάμενοι, see on Acts 9:27. ἦν ἀναγκαῖον, cf. on Acts 13:14. ἐπειδὴ δὲ, see critical notes. δέ marks the contrast, but its omission emphasises it even more vividly and sternly. ἀπωθεῖσθε : “ye thrust it from you,” R.V.; repellitis, Vulgate; only in Luke and Paul, cf. 1 Timothy 1:19; Romans 11:1; Acts 7:27; Acts 7:39; frequent in LXX, cf., e.g., Ps. 93:14, Ezekiel 43:9, and 3Ma 3:22; 3Ma 6:32, Malachi 2:16; Malachi 2:16. οὐκ ἀξίους, cf. Matthew 22:8.
