ἐπεσκέψατο, visited graciously (vide on Matthew 25:36), occasionally used in Sept [14] in the sense of judicial visitation (Psalms 89:33). Note the use of the aorist there, which runs through Luke 1:68-75, in Luke 1:76-79 futures occur. The object of ἐπεσκέψατο is latent in τῷ λαῷ (τὸν λαὸν, cf. Luke 7:16; λαός applied to Israel as the chosen people, ἔθνος to the other nations).
