ἐν τοῖς τοῦ πατρός μον, in the things of my Father (“about my Father's business,” A. V [36]); therefore in the place or house of my Father (R. V [37]); the former may be the verbal translation, but the latter is the real meaning Jesus wished to suggest. In this latter rendering patristic and modern interpreters in the main concur. Note the new name for God compared with the “Highest” and the “ Despotes ” in the foregoing narrative. The dawn of a new era is here.
