εἷς τ. παρ., one of those standing by, i.e., one of the three, Peter according to the fourth gospel (John 18:10). τὴν μάχ., the sword = his sword, as if each disciple was armed; vide on Mt. ὠτάριον = ὠτίον, T.R., diminutive of οὖς; the use of diminutives for the members of the body was common in popular speech.
