Ecclesiastes 3:12

"I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one's lifetime;"

Since the events in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 aren't eternal, then we need to appreciate them. So often we are in. hurry to get to the next stage in our lives. Instead, we need to slow down and appreciate each stage. Both the believer and the unbeliever can seek to make the most of this life, but the unbeliever is doing it in vain. "Verse 12 is not as frivolous as may appear from RSV, where enjoy themselves is literally 'do good', i.e., 'do the best he can'; yet even so, the final phrase, as long as they live. casts. shadow over every enterprise.
