For it hath been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make. certain contribution for the poor among the saints that are at Jerusalem.

'good pleasure' -'have been pleased to make' (NASV). This contribution had been made with pleasure by the Christians in Macedonia and Achaia. For the passages concerning the collection of this money see (1 Corinthians 16:1;. Corinthians Chapter s 8-9).

'In. city like Jerusalem much of the available employment must have been connected with the Temple and the needs of the Temple. All the priests and the Temple authorities were Sadducees, and the Sadducees were the supreme enemies of Jesus. It must therefore have happened that many. man, when he became. Christian in Jerusalem lost his job and was sore in need.' (Barclay p. 224)
