Yea, it hath been their good pleasure; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to minister unto them in carnal things.

The Church in Jerusalem had sent out members preaching the word in all directions. (Acts 8:4) Some of those members had established the Church in Antioch (Acts 11:19), even then the church in Jerusalem had sent Barnabas to encourage these new converts. (Romans 11:22) The congregation in Antioch supported Paul in his various preaching tours. (Acts 13:3; Acts 14:26; Acts 15:1; Acts 15:35; Acts 18:22) The Gentile world of converts owed much to that original congregation in Jerusalem. 'In view of this, an obligation rested upon them to now come to the rescue of these Jewish Christians who had become outcasts because of their faith in Christ.' (Green p. 13)
