2 Corinthians 8:9 u`ma/j {B}

The second person plural pronoun, which comports with the apostle’s argument, is strongly supported by external evidence (î46 a B D F G L P al). Since in later Greek the vowels h and u came to be pronounced alike, scribes sometimes confused the two, writing h`ma/j instead of u`ma/j. Furthermore, homiletic or devotional application of the statement to Christian believers in general would have fostered the adoption of the reading h`ma/j.
