In the interest of greater precision, the later form of the text inserted a second qeo,j (“For God is not a God of dead people, but of living”). In order to reflect the difficulty of deciding whether o` was omitted by assimilation to the parallel in Mark 12:27, or whether it was added under the influence of the four instances of o` qeo,j immediately preceding, the Committee retained o` within square brackets.
