The omission of kai. th.n qa,lassan … auvth|/ by a number of witnesses (including a* A 1611 2344 it^gig syr^ph cop^sa al) is probably accidental, arising from homoeoarcton and homoeoteleuton. The predominant weight of the external evidence (î⁴⁷ C P 1006 1854 2053 it⁶¹ vg (syr^h) cop^{sams, bo} al) favors the originality of the words, as does also the impression that they are appropriate to the completeness of the formal discourse of the author.
