Are made nigh by the blood of Christ.— There seems to be an evident allusion here to the privilege of those Israelites who were not under any ceremonial pollution, or who were cleansed from their guilt by the blood of atonement; and so had free liberty of entering the temple, and conversing with God: upon which account they are called "A people near unto him;" Psalms 148:14 comp. Exodus 19:4. Leviticus 10:3. Psalms 65:4 and see Colossians 2:13.
