This man's name is proverbial.Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. Such is the awful account given of him by God the Holy Ghost. His name seems to be in some measure characteristic of the manhe that rejectsfrom Jarah to reject; and his history awfully proves, how he rejected the counsel of God against his own soul. His history we have in 1 Kings 11:28 - 1 Kings 14:20. There was another Jeroboam, the son of Jehoash. (See 2 Kings 14:23) During this man's reign, the prophets Hosea, Amos and, Jonah exercised their ministry.
