Daniel 8:19

And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. I WILL MAKE THEE KNOW WHAT SHALL BE IN THE LAST END OF THE INDIGNATION - God's displeasure against the Jews for their sins. For their comfort they are told the calamities about to come are not to be for ever. The "time" is limited (, "Even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured on the desolate;" , "For yet the end shall be at the time appointed;" ; ; )....

Those who read the noun קף _ketz, _“_end, _” in the genitive case in Daniel 8:17, understand in this place the word “vision” again, as if the Prophet had said, “At the time of the end there shall be a vision.” But as מועד, _meveged, _or _moed, _signifies a “time fixed and settled beforehand,” there is nothing superfluous in that method of speech; then _ketz, _as I have said, is properly taken for the effect itself, and it would be harsh and far-fetched to say “at the time of the end there shall be a vision,” in the, sense of the filling up of the vision. For this word expresses all which such interpreters wish it to imply. Besides, all are agreed as to the matter itself, since the angel bears witness to his being the interpreter chosen by God, who explains futurity to the Prophet. _Behold, _therefore, says he, I will expla

EXPOSITION DANIEL 8:1 THE RAM AND THE HE-GOAT This chapter marks the change from Aramaic to_ _Hebrew. The character of the chapter is like that which immediately precedes it. It consists, like it, of the account of a vision, and the interpretation of it. The subject of this vision is the overthrow of the Persian monarchy by Alexander the Great, the division of his empire, and the oppression of Israel by Epiphanes. END Two "ends" are in view here: (1) historically, the end of the third, or Grecian empire of Alexander out of one of the divisions of which the little horn of verse 9 (Daniel 8:9) (Antiochus) arose; (2) prophetically, the end of the times of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24); (Revelation 16:14) when the "little horn" of (Daniel 7:8); (Daniel 7:24) the Beast, will arise -- Daniel's final time of the end. DANIEL 8. THE VISION OF THE RAM AND THE HE-GOAT. This chapter gives an account of another vision which came to Daniel in Shushan. Near the river Ulai a ram with two horns is seen pushing invincibly westward and northward and southward. Suddenly from the W. a he-goat appears, attacks the ram, and breaks his horns. Then, the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly. The notable horn between his eyes is broken and four other horns spring up to take its place. Out of these four horns proceeded another, a little horn, which moved towards the E. and the S. and attacked the land of Palestine, exalting itself against God, desecrating the Temple, and abolishing the sacrifices for 2300 days. The interpretation of the vision which is given by Gabriel to Daniel is exceptionally clear, and leaves no manner of doubt that it refers to the events of the Maccabean age.
