But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! BUT I HAVE A BAPTISM TO BE BAPTIZED WITH - clearly His own bloody baptism, which had first to take place. AND HOW AM I STRAITENED - not, 'how do I long for its accomplishment,' as many understand it, thus making it but a repetition of the former verse; but 'what a pressure of spirit is upon me' TILL IT BE ACCOMPLISHED - completed, over! Before a promiscuous audience, such obscure language was perhaps fitting on a theme like this; but O what surges of mysterious emotion in the view of what was now so near at hand does it reveal!...
