The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. THE WICKED IS DRIVEN AWAY IN HIS WICKEDNESS - `in his evil' - i:e., when the penalty of his evil overtakes him; as the expression, "in his death," in the parallel opposite clause requires. "Driven away" as the chaff, having nothing substantial in him (). BUT THE RIGHTEOUS HATH HOPE IN HIS DEATH - sure hope of eternal life (; ; ; ). Also, when death-like distresses come upon him....

Verse Proverbs 14:32. _THE WICKED IS DRIVEN AWAY IN HIS WICKEDNESS_] He does not _leave life cheerfully_. Poor soul! Thou hast no _hope_ in the other world, and thou leavest the present with the utmost _regret_! Thou wilt not _go_ off; but God will _drive_ thee. _BUT THE RIGHTEOUS HATH HOPE IN HIS DEATH._] He rejoiceth to depart and be with Christ: to him death is gain; he is not reluctant to _go_-he _flies_ at the call of God....

EXPOSITION PROVERBS 14:1 EVERY WISE WOMAN BUILDETH HER HOUSE. Wise women order well their household matters and their families; they have an important influence, and exercise it beneficially. Γυναικὸς ἐσθλῆς ἐστὶ σώζειν οἰκίαν_._ "A good wife is the saving of a house." The versions render as above. A different pointing of the word translated "wise" (_chakhmoth_)_ _will give "wisdom" (_chokhmoth_)_, _which it seems best to read here, as the parallel to the abstract term "folly" in the second member. CHAPTER 14 THE WISE AND THE FOOLISH: THE RICH AND THE POOR The contrast now concerns the wise and the foolish, the rich and the poor. Let us see some of these contrasts. “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise shall preserve them” Proverbs 14:3. The foolish shoots forth his foolishness like a branch. Separation from the foolish man is commanded in the seventh verse. The wise cannot have fellowship with the foolish, as the believer is not to be yoked to the unbeliever. Fools make a mock at sin Proverbs 14:9). The word “sin” in the original means “trespass offering.” That is exactly what the foolish man does, including the religious fool; he denies both sin and the blessed provision God has made to deliver from the guilt and power of sin. _his wickedness_ Lit. HIS EVIL; which may mean either, with R.V. text, _the evil which he does, his evil-doing_, or, with R.V. marg., _the evil which he suffers_, his _calamity_. The latter meaning preserves best the parallelism: when calamity overtakes the wicked it crushes him utterly (comp. Psalms 36:12), but even in his last extremity of death the righteous hath hope. _hope in his death_ which implies a belief in a future state. The same vivid contrast meets us in a more expanded form in Psalms 73.
