Psalms 112:8

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. HIS HEART IS ESTABLISHED - literally, 'surely-supported:' the same Hebrew (samuk) as is applied to 'all God's commandments,' . The firmness of God's commandments, with their appended promises, gives firmness to the believer's heart. HE SHALL NOT BE AFRAID, UNTIL HE SEE (HIS DESIRE) UPON HIS ENEMIES - (.) Faith (which is the negative of fear) continues until sight comes, and hope gives place to the desire accomplished....

Verse Psalms 112:8. _HIS HEART_ IS _ESTABLISHED_] סמוך לבו _samuch libbo_, "his heart is propped up;" he is _buttressed up_ by the strength of his Maker....

HIS HEART IS ESTABLISHED - Sustained; upheld. This is the same idea, though somewhat varied in form. The word means to sustain; to support; and the idea is, that there is some basis of support - some strength - which is not his own. HE SHALL NOT BE AFRAID - When he is assailed by enemies. UNTIL HE SEE HIS DESIRE UPON HIS ENEMIES - This implies that he had nothing really to fear. He would certainly overcome his foes; and in the meantime he might look calmly on all their efforts to destroy him, for those efforts would be vain. So the believer now looks calmly on all his spiritual foes. He has nothing to fear, for he will overcome them all; he will certainly triumph; he will trample them all under his feet. He may well, therefore, endure these conflicts for a brief period, for the issue is certain, and the conflict will soon come to an end....

EXPOSITION IN this "complementary psalm" the writer sets forth the blessedness of the true worshipper of God. With the doctrine of grace; which is food unto it, and by which it is strengthened and nourished; it is established in the faith of Christ, both in the grace of faith, and in the doctrine of faith, even in all the doctrines of the Gospel; so that he is not as a child, tossed to and fro with every wind; his heart is established in the exercise of grace, and he is steadfast and immovable in the discharge of duty. Psalms 112 Hallelujah! The Righteous are Blessed The second Hallelujah Psalm tells of blessedness of the righteous in the day the Lord is enthroned. It is preeminently Israel. His seed will be mighty upon the earth--wealth and riches will be in their house. And the righteous character, their righteous acts are given. “He hath dispersed, He hath given to the poor.” While this is done by the Jews even today in their unbelief, what will it be in the day they know Him and worship the King? See Paul's answer in Romans 11:12. The desire of the wicked is then perished. Righteousness reigns....

PSS. CXI. AND CXII. These are sister Pss. as is shown by their structure. Each contains nine verses. Each verse has two lines, each line beginning with a letter of the alphabet in due succession. We have thus eighteen lines, so that we get eighteen letters of the acrostic in all. To get twenty-one lines in each, corresponding to the number of letters in the alphabet, the author or authors added at the end of each Ps. a verse with three lines, which is precisely the number wanted. The Hallelujah at the beginning of each is a later liturgical addition which destroys the acrostic. Psalms 111 is chiefly occupied with the greatness and goodness of Yahweh. Psalms 112 finds its theme chiefly in the corresponding truth, viz. the happiness of the godly. CXI. PSALMS 111:2. SOUGHT OUT: to be sought out would be better....
