Psalms 67:7

_LET THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE, O GOD; LET ALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE._ -When all the peoples praise God, then the earth itself shall be delivered from the curse. Verse 6. THEN SHALL THE EARTH YIELD HER INCREASE - literally, 'hath yielded:' the prophetical preterite. The future is to the eye of inspiration as sure as the already past. The blessing in Leviticus 26:4 shall then be realized: primarily referring to thy Holy Land; ultimately to the whole earth. So also Psalms 65:5; Psalms 65:9. AND GOD, EVEN OUR OWN GOD, SHALL BLESS US. Israel own God, and the God of the Church, shall go on blessing us. Verse 7. GOD SHALL BLESS US; AND ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH SHALL FEAR HIM

Verse Psalms 67:7. _GOD SHALL BLESS US_] He shall ever be _speaking good_ to us, and ever showering down good things upon us. The last clause of the _sixth verse_ should be joined to the _seventh_, as it is in several of the _Versions_, and should be in all. Many of the _fathers_, and several _commentators_, have thought that there is a reference to the _Holy Trinity_ in the triple repetition of the word GOD: "God, our God, shall bless us; God shall bless us;" thus paraphrased in the old _Psalter_: "Blis us God the Fader: and our God the sone: and blis us and multipli us God the Hali Gast; that swa drede him God, all the endis of erth; for he wil comme to deme rightwysly that unrightwysly was demed. He that kan drede him, he cesses noght to lufe him." _When_ or by _whom_ this Psalm was written cannot be as

GOD SHALL BLESS US - That is, with prosperity, peace, salvation. The making of his name known abroad will be the means of blessing the world; will be the highest favor that can be conferred on mankind. AND ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH SHALL FEAR HIM - All parts of the earth. See the notes at Psalms 22:27. The time, therefore, looked for is that when the knowledge of the Lord shall pervade all lands; the time to which the ancient prophets were constantly looking forward as the sum of all their wishes, and the burden of all their communications; that time, for the coming of which all who love their fellow-men, and who earnestly desire the welfare of the world, should most earnestly pray. EXPOSITION ACCORDING to some, this psalm, like Psalms 65:1, is a harvest thanksgiving (Hengstenberg, Cheyne). But the single expression (in Psalms 65:6) on which this view is grounded seems insufficient to support it, more especially as that expression may well be understood figuratively (see Psalms 85:12; Jeremiah 8:20; Hosea 6:11; Joel 3:13; Matthew 9:37, etc.). The Holy Spirit blesses with regenerating and renewing grace; with faith, comfort, joy and peace, by shedding abroad in the heart the love of the Father and the Son; by applying precious promises; by testifying adoption; by making meet for heaven and happiness, and working up for the selfsame thing eternal glory; AND ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH SHALL FEAR HIM; the one God, Father, Son, and Spirit, the object of religious fear, internal and external; for this includes the exercise of that inward grace of filial fear, and the performance of all divine worship, public and private; and which in the latter day will be found among Jews and Gentiles, in all the inhabitants of the earth, even to the ends of it, Hosea 3:5....

Psalms 67 The Fullest Blessing This brief Psalm does not permit any division. It is closely linked with the preceding one, telling us of the fullest blessings in store for Israel and the whole earth, when the new day has dawned and the King reigns. If this little Psalm in its prophetic message were understood it would end forever all postmillennial misconceptions as to the conversion of the world. Israel prays that the Lord may be gracious to them as He will in that coming day. As a result of Israel's conversion by the coming of the Lord, His way will be known upon the earth and His salvation among the nations.
