Verse Revelation 19:12. _HIS EYES_ WERE _AS A FLAME OF FIRE_] To denote the piercing and all-penetrating nature of his wisdom. _ON HIS HEAD_ WERE _MANY CROWNS_] To denote the multitude of his conquests, and the extent of his dominion. _A NAME WRITTEN, THAT NO MAN KNEW_] This is a reference to what the rabbins call the _shem hammephorash_, or _tetragrammaton_, יהוה YHVH; or what we call _Jehovah_. This name the Jews never attempt to pronounce: when they meet with it in the Bible, they read אדני _Adonai_ for it; but, to a man, they all declare that _no man can_ _pronounce it_; and that the _true pronunciation_ has _been lost_, at least since the Babylonish captivity; and that _God alone knows its_ _true interpretation and pronunciation_
