And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

Le porche - ou portique, étendu sur toute la façade (voir la note à 2 Chroniques 3:4). La conception du porche, qui faisait quatre fois la hauteur du temple, devait principalement servir d'ornement à l'édifice. La vue depuis son sommet surélevé aurait été très étendue - sur la Méditerranée d'un côté, et sur la mer Morte de l'autre, sur le cours du Jourdain et sur l'Arabie.
