And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

Sa belle-fille, la femme de Phinehas ... s'est inclinée et a accouché. Alors que dans certaines régions de l'Est, les femmes parturientes donnaient autrefois naissance à leur progéniture une posture debout (voir la note à Genèse 25:26), dans d'autres, ils ont l'habitude de se mettre à genoux, comme c'est encore la coutume en Abyssinie (Ludolph, 'History of AEthiopia, «1 :, 15).
