Daniel 5:7

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Le roi a crié à haute voix pour faire entrer les astrologues. Il fait appel aux devins chaldéens, qui plus d'une fois avaient été détectés dans l'imposture. Il néglige Dieu et Daniel, dont la renommée d'interprète était alors bien établie. Le monde veut être trompé et ferme les yeux contre la lumière (Calvin). Les Hébreux pensent que les mots étaient chaldéens, mais dans l'ancien caractère hébreu (comme cela maintenant dans le Pentateuque samaritain).
