As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

Ils avaient quatre le visage d'un homme - à savoir, devant. Le visage humain était le visage principal et proéminent, et la partie fondamentale de l'ensemble composite. Sur sa droite se trouvait le visage du lion; à gauche, le bœuf (appelé "chérubin", Ézéchiel 10:14); à l'arrière, d'en haut, était celle de l'aigle.
