Juges 6:8

That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;

Le Seigneur a envoyé un prophète. Ce prophète n'exerçait que la fonction pastorale. Comme l'homme de Dieu chargé de réprouver Éli (1 Sam. 11: 27-29), il était le porteur d'un message spécifique, mais pas celui qui prononçait des paroles prophétiques. Sa fonction était d'éveiller les Israélites à un sentiment de leur péché en apostasiant de Dieu. La calamité nationale est attribuée avec autorité à leur infidélité comme cause.
