Huram, the form used throughout Chronicles (except 1 Chronicles 14:1) for the name both of the king and of the artisan whom he lent to Solomon 2 Chronicles 2:13; 2Ch 4:11, 2 Chronicles 4:16, is a late corruption of the true native word, Hiram (marginal note and reference)....

EXPOSITION 2 CHRONICLES 2:1 In the Hebrew text this verse stands as the last of 2 Chronicles 1:1. DETERMINED. The Hebrew word is the ordinary word for "said;" as, _e.g; _in the expression of such frequent occurrence, "The Lord said." Its natural equivalent here might be, he _gave the word, _or _issued the command, _for the building of a house. FOR THE NAME OF THE LORD; better, to _the Name of the Lord _(1 Kings 5:3; or in Hebrew text, 1 Kings 5:18;...

_Huram_ Another form of _Hiram_(1 Kings 5:1 [15, Heb.]) which is a shortened form of _Ahiram_(Hebrew, _Aḥ_"brother" and _râm_"exalted"). Yet another form is _Hirom_(1 Kings 5:10; see R.V. mg.). The Phœnician language is written with even fewer vowel signs than are found in ancient Hebrew; hence the uncertainty in the form of this name. _didst send him cedars_ See 1 Chronicles 14:1 = 2 Samuel 5:11....
