a golden ring The ring (nezem) was probably a nose-ring, cf. Genesis 24:47. So the Samaritan version here reads "and put it on her nose." LXX ἐνώτια, Lat. inaures= "earrings."

half a shekel weight Heb. beḳa. See Exodus 38:26. Half a shekel weighed one quarter of an ounce. There is only mention of one ring, and this is of light weight. The two bracelets weighed 10 shekels, or 5 ounces. These gifts reward her kindness in a lavish manner, and lead up to the request for a lodging at her home.
