Most modern editors add to this verse the words translated -therefore" in John 7:22 [it is not S. John's favourite particle (see on John 7:15), but a preposition with a pronoun = for this cause, on account of this; -and ye all marvel on account of this." But this is cumbrous, and unlike S. John, who beginssentences with this phrase (John 6:16; John 6:18; John 8:47; John 10:17; John 12:39; mistranslated -therefore" in all cases) rather than ends them with it. The old arrangement is best.
