All the Uncials read αὐτῶν, -their," except D, which probably by an oversight reads αὐτοῦ, -His." Strictly speaking, the childwas never purified, but only the mother. The purification took place on the fortieth day after the Nativity, and till then a mother was not permitted to leave her house. The feast of the Presentation was known in the Eastern Church as the Hypapantê.
