A warning to all presumptuous braggarts, based on the Divine utterances of Psalms 75:2. It is disputed whether the speaker is still God, as in Psalms 75:2, or the poet, but the latter alternative is preferable. The interposition of Selahmarks the end of the Divine speech, and I saidnaturally introduces a fresh speaker. Moreover there is no break between Psalms 75:5 and Psalms 75:6, but it is clear that God is no longer speaking in Psalms 75:6.
